来自牛津小镇利明顿，英国的后Grunge四人组Budapest于1999年成军。以匈牙利首都布达佩斯为名，John Garrison（主音兼吉他），Adrian Kelley（贝司），Mark Walworth（吉他）, Paul Possart（鼓）以及Chris Pemberton（钢琴）的目标是比较重的旋律和电影般的音响感觉；三年以后，Budapest走进录音室制作了第一张专辑。《Too Blind to Hear》这张专辑收录了John Garrison华美的抒情以及来自乐队的严谨的表演；但是，一个悲惨的事件给这张新专辑带来了阴影。当乐队完成专辑后一个星期，吉他手Walworth自杀了，这让乐队醒悟过来。为了向死去的同伴致意，余下的成员继续在专辑上努力，并在Easy Street唱片公司发行。最终Matt Parker加入乐队成为主音吉他，这给Budapest带来了继续前进的动力。英国舆论对Budapest全心全意的歌曲以及2001年的加拿大巡演评论有佳。两年以后，Republic/Universal公司将乐队带到美国，专辑《Too Blind to Hear》于2003年三月在美国上市。
