今天，我县隆重集会表彰了在开展无偿献血活动中涌现的一批先进单位和个人。太湖家园网被县政府授予无偿献血先进单位荣誉称号，杨柳岸、十三太保、天平之子、陈乐松、幸福斌斌等网友荣获无偿献血先进个人荣誉称号。13名胸戴“家园网志愿者”的家园网友（太阳冰、杨柳岸，四公子，不会打中锋，古石厂携夫人、朦胧夫人、东篱、雨后新荷、当当、平淡是真、绿草地、搔人）参加了现场的无偿献血活动。
每年6月14日为世界献血者日，目的是提高全球认识，要知道输血必须有安全的血液和血液制品，并要认识到自愿无偿献血者对国家卫生系统做出的重要贡献。
世界各地对血液的需求在日益增加，临床患者尤其需要更具活力的新鲜血液。年轻人可以通过捐献血液和募集其他年轻人加入无偿献血者行列来做出重要贡献。血液中心将根据《中华人民共和国献血法》中提及的重点人群，同时结合世博元素开展系列活动，如针对高校大学生的“天之骄子热血行动”、针对部队士兵的“青年卫士突击行动”和针对年轻公务员的“机关精英奉献行动”。希望通过这些活动的运作挖掘年轻人在确保安全血液供应方面的作用，并将将无偿献血的理念辐射全社会，以实际行动实践“向世界提供新鲜血液”这一口号。
此外，2010年的全球世界献血者日活动将在西班牙巴塞罗那举行，由西班牙和加泰罗尼亚卫生保健当局、西班牙和加泰罗尼亚献血者协会以及西班牙红十字会主办。
